there is hardly a magazine or blog that has not yet reported on shabby chic. But what exactly is shabby chic? The trend comes from England and was shaped by Rachel Ashwell in the early 1990s.
What is Shabby Chic Style?
The Still describes a mix of old, new and strange. Bargains from the flea market are combined with beloved heirlooms and chic new parts. All furniture and decorative items get a natural charm from signs of wear and tell your own story.
Colors and material - it depends on the break
The color world of Shabby Chic are matt pastel shades: pink, turquoise, sky blue, gray, beige and antique white. The materials are natural and already used: wood, leather, paper and linen. But just as the individual items are not perfect, this style also accepts fractions. So kitschy decorative items made of plastic are also possible and will be happy to be in the collection. Overall, Shabby Chic radiates cosiness and security with its attention to detail.
Everything but no bare walls
Bare walls, of course, do not fit into such a loving interior. Some wallpaper designers have adopted the style and other wallpapers fit perfectly with Shabby Chic due to their romantic pattern. It is only important that the wallpaper matches the color world and you like it. Stripes, dots, ornaments, wood look, toile de jouy and the whole world of floral wallpaper are at your disposal.
